To provide some context I added some content, meaning I wrote a few words where I was. Consider it as a teaser and if you like it there are web sites like Wikipedia that provide tons of further data and information.

2024 Eastern
Ten days. One van. Zero real plan. We rolled out of Bavaria chasing castles, beer, and a Chinese tower that apparently moved house — and somehow ended up on Germany’s biggest island, watching a bonfire pagans would approve of. Along the way: a Prussian king’s “worry-free” palace, a Cold War colossus turned holiday flats, a pier with a diving gondola (yes, really), and a Lenin memorial nobody saw coming. Oh, and matjes herring so fresh it practically waved at us. Buckle up — this Easter road trip from Bavaria to Rügen has more plot twists than a soap opera.

2024 Upper Bavaria
A public holiday, a sunny sky, and a motorbike I couldn’t leave in the garage — recipe for a perfect three-hour escape. I chased beer gardens and oompah music up a “holy mountain,” climbed to the world’s oldest weather station (still clocking in since 1781, overachiever), got unexpectedly emotional at a war memorial, and rolled past a lake that once inspired an entire art movement. Oh, and I met a family of storks, because apparently Bavaria just hands those out too. No big plan, no big drama — just a short ride packed with mountains, art, and one very smug weather station.

2024 Ramsau-Berchtesgaden
16km, 1530m of elevation, and one deeply disappointing empty beer box halfway up a mountain — welcome to my alpine adventure in Ramsau. I hiked to a hut with the best view (and best schnitzel) in Bavaria, slid 40 meters into a salt mine on an actual wooden slide like a giant kid, and cruised across a lake so pristine even the boats had to go electric. Add a pilgrimage church you can only reach by boat, a very serious documentation center, and mountains that refuse to stop showing off — and you’ve got three days that left my legs sore and my camera very happy.

2024/2025/2026 Dinkelsbühl
Somewhere in Bavaria, a medieval town forgot to update itself — and thank goodness for that. Dinkelsbühl looks like someone hit pause in the 1500s and just… never pressed play again. Half-timbered houses lean at suspicious angles, colorful facades look almost too perfect to be real, and the entire old town is still wrapped in its original city walls (yes, you can walk them). I kept expecting a knight to round the corner, or a fairy tale to jump out of a window box. Come wander these cobblestone streets with me and see if Dinkelsbühl feels as unreal to you as it did to me.

2025 Bretagne
One region, four names — Bretagne, Breizh, Bertaeyn, Bertegn — and I’m pretty sure even the locals argue about which one to use. So naturally, I had to go find out why. What I got was standing stones older than the pyramids, crêpes that ruined all other crêpes for me forever, wild Atlantic coastlines that look like they were designed by a very moody artist, and a language that sounds nothing like French (spoiler: that’s the whole point). Come wander through Brittany’s rugged coasts, mysterious megaliths, and cider-fueled villages with me — questions asked, answers only sometimes found. 3.500km travel with the van to and through the Bretagne.

2025 Völklinger Hütte
Ever wanted to hang out inside a giant rusty robot from the 1800s? Yeah, me neither — until I stumbled across this place. I went looking for “art and culture” and instead found blast furnaces the size of apartment buildings, iron colossi rusting away like sleeping giants, and a serious case of rust-envy. Turns out, this isn’t just any old factory — it’s UNESCO’s favorite steel mill, and the first industrial site ever to earn that title. Where molten steel once roared, history now whispers instead. Come wander through it with me — camera rolling, jaw on the floor, completely won over by a pile of gorgeous rust.

2026 Amberg
Discover Amberg in Bavaria, featuring the famous Stadtbrille, the Vils River, cozy beer gardens, and the unique sights of the Old Town. A relaxed walking tour through one of the most beautiful cities in the Upper Palatinate region of Germany. 🌍🍺
Midway through, we took a break at a beer garden—soaking up the typical Bavarian atmosphere with good food and a refreshing drink. It is precisely this blend of history, tranquility, and joie de vivre that makes Amberg so special to me.
